Friday evenings friendly at Hollway Field brings the Columbus Crew Collegiate Program to town along with some familiar faces.
Former AFC Ann Arbor striker, and Pioneer High School graduate, Ahinga Selemani, will be squaring up against AFC as he suits up for the Crew. Selemani, a standout player from a young age in this town having representing the United States at the youth level, played alongside Mighty Oak players Tristan Jacob, Zach and Chase Pagani and Peter Tappenden growing up.
Selemani is coming off a very successful season with the Gauchos of the University of California-Santa Barbara, where he played with current AFC Ann Arbor defender, Ade Adeniyi. The two will find themselves in opposing kits Friday night after becoming close teammates during their NCAA playoff run that ended in the Sweet 16 against No. 2 ranked Clemson.
In addition to Selemani, two current Michigan soccer players will also be appearing for the Columbus Crew CP Friday evening in Andre Morris and Riley Woods.
Although the match is a friendly, the environment of familiar faces and hometown reunions will boast for a very exciting and electric atmosphere for the players and fans alike. Not to mention a natural Columbus vs Ann Arbor rivalry, tonight’s match has all the makings of a high profile non-conference matchup under the lights.
Tickets for tonight's match are available for purchase online until 6pm and will also be available at the gate.
